Are you ready to enhance your classroom environment through the use of digital media? Are your students interested in demonstrating their understanding and creativity through projects like movies, visual imagery, digital storytelling and podcasting? The potential of learning with digital media is both exciting and daunting: from developing a framework for students to build effective project management skills, to the evaluation and assessment of (and for) learning, using multimedia in the classroom requires careful thought and planning. This workshop will help teachers understand how to successfully and enjoyably bring the exciting world of digital media into their classroom environment.

Essential Questions:
  • Why do we use technology in the classroom?
  • What skills and attributes should we be assessing when we use technology?
  • How can we ensure learners are building essential 21st century skills?

Possible Outcomes:
  • Educators will build a list of the types of projects that they can assign where students can demonstrate real understanding.
  • Cohort members will build a variety of rubrics demonstrating how to evaluate student understanding.
  • Cohort members will also build a media presentation on ideas of how to evaluate student performance in their content field.

Targeted towards educators who already infuse technology in their classroom and are looking to do a better job of evaluating student understanding.
